In the New Economy enthusiasm and energy bordering on obsession can open many doors!

Enthusiasm is contagious. Everybody can practice this and can develop and increase his own ability to be enthusiastic.

Everyday when you get out of bed you can say, “Today is a great day. It is a promising day.” We have every reason to think like this because each day is a unique present. No day is bestowed twice upon us, each day can only be lived once. As a result of such thinking the enthusiasm is conveyed to our daily activities and often works miracles. It influences our fellowmen and electrifies them.

Enthusiasm blesses us with friends and makes us happy. It provides us with the best days. As a result enthusiasm is one of the strongest tools to power available to human beings. Enthusiasm makes us successful and happy. It is a sign of acceptance of life and an expression of love of life.

However, you can also adopt the thinking of the pseudo-realists and maintain, “I have my prejudices don't confuse me with facts”, and just continue in your usual routine. ...

The following exercise should be a stimulation to increase your self-motivation. Please remember: an exercise can yield information, provide encouragement, call for change ... it can lead to changes of conviction but hardly to an improved behavior if you don't want to do it. This is at the same time the heart of the problem of self-motivation: knowledge alone does not lead to a change in behavior. Wanting to and being able to do it are necessary ingredients as well ... and only what you finally do will bring you a step further.

Whoever wants to do something for his self-motivation should develop a personal program to strengthen his self-motivation and implement it step by step.
We must be aware that in many respects attitudes have been impresses upon us and we are largely pre-programmed. Unconscious motives and conceptions of what we are and what we should or may do, even of what we can do all play a large role in determining our behavior or actions. Everyone has a specific environment which influences them. And yet everyone is to a great extent responsible for their own destiny.

In order to develop your own program to strengthen your self-motivation you first have to answer the following four questions:
• Where am I? (privately, family, work, socially)
• Who am I? (experiences, knowledge, capabilities, successes and failures to date)
• How am I? (efficiency, health, interests, creativity, characteristics)
• Where do I want to go? (expectations, fears, dreams, goals, desires)

It is less important to identify these catchwords with the four questions than to ask the questions and find an answer.

By means of this analysis you will be able to ascertain very quickly what hinders your self-motivation (i.e. stress, wrong goals, overloaded) and what reinforces it (i.e. success and recognition, ability to relax, coming to terms with stress). Based on these findings you can develop your personal program to strengthen your self-motivation.

Please determine two points which you want to attack immediately or in the immediate future (i.e. lose weight, regular exercise) and a maximum of two points which you want to settle medium term (i.e. learn how to relax and come to terms with stress, go to a course for autogenic training). It is immaterial what you have chosen or how many activities, or even if you have recorded your problems and possibilities in their entirety. What you actually do is essential!

Every small step in reality is worth more than a thousand programs or action plans. Every failed attempt is better than innumerable reproaches over the years because the fact that you tried is more important. Every friendly word is worth more than thousand best intentions.

There is a growing group of people within the business organizations, that would like to use the possibilities of Knowledge Management for their business areas. They may be interested to become part of a company wide group of common practices centered around their specific area like: Product Development, Leadership Development or Finance and Control etc.
In the attached article we are discussing some of the issues in developing corporate communities of practice.

Starting a New Business Venture
