Personal Note from the Editor

The past months have been very hectic for me. Many travels, several seminars, workshops and conferences have kept me very busy. But I was able to meet many fascinating people and to exchange ideas with them.

I hope to be able to finish my book on the New Reality within the next three months.

At Learnità my latest business venture we are working on several very interesting projects. One project that we will test very soon is 'Xerendipity: Creative Business Solutions', a systemic tool for the problem solving and the search of solutions. I hope that we can report more on this fascinating tool soon.

We have made good progress in the understanding of the knowledge economy. Therefore we have also started to work on the fundamentals of the knowledge economy.

In order to give access to our research and development work on the knowledge economy to the interested executives, we are preparing an 'Executive Master for the Knowledge Economy'. We have started to build a consortium of leading business schools together with leading companies.

Our engagement in South Africa has been very successful and rewarding so far and we are looking forward for the next steps. One of the most exciting possibilities is the planned project for the development of towns developed by the South-African company Raintree.

The EAPM Congress in Geneva

The XXth. Congress & Exhibition was run in 2001 by the Swiss Association for Personnel Management SGP , on behalf of the European Association for Personnel Management EAPM, under the motto: 'The Global Art: Engaging people's full potential in a global economy'
It took place from 26 - 29 June 2001 in Geneva..
Thanks to a uniquely integrated platform every participant was able to make the best of his time and get the opportunity to learn from successful practices share competencies and experiences experiment with new and original ideas induce, reinforce and expand European networks and to participate to a constructive discussion on current HR-trends

Daniel Held the Programme Chairman wrote after the congress:
'We got enthusiastic feedback from an overwhelming number of participants. It will remain in their memories as a unique event, with so many world-class contributions, with its very complete, integrated and attractive platform, because of attractive and creative session, but also because emotions have been in the centre of most sessions and reserved so many pleasant and creative surprises day by day. '

Mario Raich was involved in the preparation and the delivery of the ESADE afternoon session on June 27 on 'Individual learning and employability' .

Learnità

Poland

In Poland we are about to create a Swiss Polish Center for Entrepreneurship together with the Technical University of Silesia and the Handicraft and SMEs chamber Katowice. This Center will have a Business School like offering.
We want to build and develop a Center for Entrepreneurship that is able to deliver leading edge, high quality, practice oriented entrepreneurial knowledge and know-how for students, entrepreneurs, managers and executives.
Our main focus is entrepreneurship for existing organizations and companies and for New Business Ventures (NBV).
We prefer quality to quantity and will be selective, developing leaders and entrepreneurs for the 21st century.
We can build on the 10 years experience of the PL-CH Project for the Development of Entrepreneurship in Poland. We have already a strong image and brand, a large network and community, leading edge knowledge and know-how successfully tested in the Polish reality.
We can deliver a holistic offer of education, coaching & consulting and practice.

South-Africa

Today South Africa is a country of hope and opportunities. Unfortunately the past is still overshadowing this beautiful country.
South Africa is not better or worse that most of the countries in transformation, but an incredible amount of bad news published in the media during the past years is preventing people to have an fresh look at it.
Obviously there are many real problems!
People living in South Africa are getting impatient with their own government, because the expected changes are not occurring quickly enough. The country is also loosing some of the best talents, because many young white South Africans do not see any future for them.But there is an incredible amount of opportunities for entrepreneurial people in South Africa.
We will bring more informations on this fascinating country in the next issues of our magazine.
