This is a virtual magazine for the entrepreneurial and innovative people of the Age of Knowledge. It was published since January 2000 under the title “Knowledge Economy”. Our magazine is a platform for the dialogue between the academic research and the practice. From the editor


During the least two years strategic Innovation has emerged as the core area of our activities. Therefore you will find more specific information about our offer in this issue of our magazine.


Business wise I was mainly writing about innovation and entrepreneurship. Personally I have been writing novels and fairy tales. During the last two years I have written five books and I am working in the sixth on right now. It is about the world in the year 2030. This kind of books I am writing in German.

 “ Entrepreneurship in the Age of Knowledge”


Entrepreneurship is, at least implicitly, the most important driver of economy. In the age of knowledge this will become explicit. We can foresee some fundamental changes of the role of entrepreneurship in the knowledge economy and changes in the entrepreneurial approach itself as well.


We will see the appearance of "entrebots" helping in the creation and search of entrepreneurial opportunities and in the organization of resources. Virtual platforms based on the new internet and the Grid will change the way we are achieving results ad are creating value. Value creation based on the key stakeholder expectations will become the basis for the entrepreneurial activity.  We will also see an new economic principle emerging: knowledge and ignorance.

Strategic Innovation

At Learnità we are using the “coaching approach”. One experienced Learnità coach is introducing and developing the strategic innovation at the customers company together with the necessary expertise to run it. The strategic innovation is an investment with huge revenue potential.


There are three kinds of strategic innovation processes that we are using:


 


A) Leveraging the corporate innovation potential


     Involving as many employees as possible on a voluntary basis. The objective is to get at least one idea per employee on average. The employees need to understand that they are the innovation potential of the company. It begins with the change of the individual context. They can do it if they want it! They can go way beyond the corporate and social content. Creativity is the link to infinity!


 


B) Creation of new business cases


     Selected teams are searching for new business opportunities with strategic relevance using the corporate innovation process. This process can be repeated over several years and enlarged with the time.


 


C) Special innovation processes leading “Beyond!” Examples: Reinventing the corporate value creation; developing new business models, developing a new supply chain, a new target market, etc.

At ESADE we will use the value creation framework to look at the possibilities to reinvent the corporate value creation.


 


Objectives:



  • Understanding the value creation framework and the corporate innovation process

  • Applying the concepts to selected industries

  • Developing a first framework of reference about the possibilities for the reinvention of the corporate value creation. Using it for the development of a businesses case.

Marco Self is focused on his career. His wife says that this is not enough for a marriage. She leaves him. This is a shock for Marco. He quits his promising job at the bank and starts a journey to find out who he really is. During this journey he discovers the ancient dream of humanity about tolerance and partnership. He is appalled about the intolerance of the world religions. Why do we have so much ill in this world?


On his way to Jerusalem he meets Sarah, a young student of history. Can she help him to find out what the meaning of his life is? She asks him to find the answers to three questions: Who are you? What is the fate of mankind? What is true partnership?


Marco goes to Australia hoping the Aborigines may be able to help him to find the answers. He wants to discover how they could survive for fifty thousand years.


It is a book about a quest in our complex world.
