This time we will look at the issues and problems of the HR and HRM in the new economy. There is a clear shift from the “service provider” to a “business partner”, but the needs and requirements the businesses have can very well be provided by the line management or external parties. The challenges of the new economy are a threat and an opportunity for the HR managers. With the new paradigm as a “business partner” the HRM can cover a much larger part of the corporate ground.
HR professionals can become key players in the management team, if they know how to manage people and to influence bottom line results and are able to manage knowledge and the intangible in order to preserve and create value for the organization.
If you are interested to read more about it, than read the attached article: “HRM in the Knowledge-Based Economy: Is There an Afterlife?”
The e-business euphoria and hype is all over Europe. After several fantastic successes of digital start-ups in the USA the Europeans are getting ready to invest heavily into the digital economy.
They have seen the difficulties to build a sound business in the B2C. The large part of the American companies in the B2C business are still in the red, because of the tremendous amount of money necessary for the advertising. So many are starting right away with the B2B start-ups.
Europe will come to the B2C through another route, the next generation of the “mobile” will be the instrument opening up the consumer world for the internet.
If you are interested to follow the e-trends than we can recommend nua.com.ie. an excellent provider of information on this development
We can watch how the old heavy “lorries” and “road-trains” with all their legacies are trying to become like the nimble new “formula one” of the digital economy. The eGEs’s and the eGM’s are the best indication of the necessity for the business to adapt to the new environment and the new rules. We will see an increasing number of “classic” industries being transformed from “brick and mortar” to “click and mortar” companies. In a few year “e-business” will loose his appeal, because the companies that will survive will be all in some parts “e-businesses”.
On the other side we will see how the digital star-ups will become “click and mortar” companies too. There will just be far less “mortar” that in the past companies.
The start-ups in the digital economy are discovering very quick, that the most critical ingredient of their business are people. On one side people building and developing the business, and on the other side people who are willing to use their services and products and to pay for it!
The digital economy is the most virulent part of the knowledge economy, therefore is the knowledge much more critical for the businesses of this economy, than for the past economy.
Knowledge is still in the largest part “tacit”, which means in the head of people. And there we are again: “people”.
People who have some experience in the digital business, especially in the creation an development of start-ups can contact Inplace AG at inplace-ag.com. I am sure they are very welcome there.
The creation of a web page can be a very painful and a very costly exercise. The selection of the right partner is crucial. We have made a very good experience with the Inetconsult AG. They have made an excellent performance in respect to quality, time and price.
If you are interested you can visit their site: inetconsult.ch.
We are preparing a one day event, where we will invite people having with experience with digital start-ups and where we will help people to draw a road map for the creation and the development of a digital business. This events will be in different cities in Europe in May and June 2000.
If you are interested to organize such an event for your company or in your country, please contact Dr. Mario Raich at info@learnita.com
